Yarmouth Rural RCMP is investigating a report of missing firearms.

On March 8, officers learned that a gun safe containing six firearms had been moved without the consent of the owner to an unlocked building on a rural property in Tusket. When the owner attempted to collect the safe and the firearms, they found that the items were missing and reported their concerns to police.

The safe is described as a dark-coloured gun locker, approximately 5 feet tall. The firearms missing are:

  • black 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol
  • 32 Special Remington long gun, lever action, brown wood stock with a scope
  • 12-gauge break barrel single shot shotgun, Russian model, brand unknown
  • 12-gauge Remington pump action shot gun, all black synthetic stock
  • semi automatic SKS rifle, black synthetic build and collapsible stock with scope

The sixth firearm was a non-functional .22 calibre rifle, with ammunition clip and wood grain stock.

Investigators have followed up on several investigative avenues and are seeking information from the public that will allow for the safe recovery of the missing firearms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Yarmouth Rural RCMP Detachment at 902-742-9106. To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or use the P3 Tips app.
