RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a man for impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Chaswood.

On April 28, at approximately 3:05 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 12600 block of Hwy. 224.  The officer learned that a truck had gone off the road and into the ditch.

Upon arrival, the officer located the truck in the ditch with a man seated in the driver’s seat.

The officer observed signs of impairment and obtained a roadside breath sample from the driver, which resulted in a fail.

The driver, a 45-year-old man from Chaswood, was arrested for impaired driving and transported to Enfield RCMP Detachment where he provided two breath samples registering 280 mg% and 270 mg%.

The man was released pending a future court appearance.

Impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk.  Even one impaired decision can have devastating consequences.  Plan ahead by choosing a designated driver, arranging a safe ride home or not driving at all after consuming alcohol or drugs.  If you suspect an impaired driver, call 911.
