RCMP Southeast Traffic Services -Metro has arrested a man for offences under the Excise Act, Customs Act, Food and Drugs Act and the Criminal Code.
On May 2, at approximately 12:25 p.m., an officer was proactively patrolling Hwy. 102 in Goffs and stopped a southbound Dodge Ram with an Ontario licence plate towing a U-Haul trailer. The officer questioned the driver, whose account of his travel from Ontario to Nova Scotia raised suspicion.
The driver, a 46-year-old man from Ontario, was arrested under the Excise Act for possession of unstamped tobacco. A search of the truck and trailer led to the seizure of a quantity of unstamped cigarettes and a box containing male enhancement pills that contain sildenafil.
The man is facing a charge of Possession of Unstamped Tobacco under the Excise Act and a charge under the Food and Drugs Act for the sildenafil. He’s also facing a charge of Possession of Tobacco for the Purpose of Selling under the Criminal Code and three Revenue Act charges related to the tobacco by Audit and Enforcement Officers from the Department of Service Nova Scotia.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
