RCMP investigating shooting in Lake Loon, appealing to public for information

The RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section is investigating a shooting in Lake Loon and is appealing to the public for information. 

On May 19, at approximately 8:50 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, the HRP Canine Unit and EHS responded to a report of an injured man who arrived at a home on Montague Mines Rd. stating he’d been shot. 

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 41-year-old man of Halifax, in the 100 block of Montague Mines Rd. with a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers learned that the victim had been walking north along Montague Rd., near Lake Loon Rd., when a burgundy SUV approached and shots were fired. The victim then fled into a ditch and went door-to-door seeking assistance.   

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section.
