The Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit has charged a man with First-Degree Murder in relation to the disappearance of Steven Boudreau, who was reported missing from Hopewell on April 19.
The initial investigation determined that the circumstances surrounding Boudreau’s disappearance were suspicious and the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit (SWN MCU) took carriage of the investigation. Investigators subsequently gathered information and evidence that ultimately led to the successful recovery of Boudreau’s remains.
On May 20, SWN MCU, assisted by the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Services, safely arrested a 29-year-old man at a residence on East Torbrook Rd., Torbrook.
Cody Reid Palmer, 29, of Torbrook, is charged with First Degree Murder and has been remanded into custody. Palmer will next appear in Kentville Provincial Court on June 16.
The investigation is continuing and has been assisted by RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Digital Forensic Services and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office.
