The RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit (NEN MCU) has charged a man with murder in relation to a suspicious death in January 2025.

On January 3, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, Colchester County District RCMP responded to a home on Bomber Dr. as part of a wellbeing check and located a deceased 42-year-old woman. The woman’s death was considered suspicious and NEN MCU took lead of the investigation. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service then ruled the death a homicide.

At the time of the wellness check, officers also located an unconscious man in the home. He was transported to hospital. The man was later identified as Lee Andrew MacDonald, 49, of Bible Hill.

On May 26, 2026, after an extensive investigation, officers safely arrested MacDonald at a residence in Bible Hill. He is charged with Second Degree Murder and had a first court appearance on May 27 at Truro Provincial Court. He remains in custody pending future court appearances.

The investigation has been supported by Colchester County District RCMP, Truro Police Service, RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. There is no evidence to suggest this homicide is an incident of intimate partner violence. Investigators appreciated information from the public that helped bring about this arrest.

Our thoughts continue to be with the woman's loved ones at this difficult time.
