RCMP Southeast Traffic Services -Metro has arrested a man for offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act following a traffic stop for speeding.

On June 9, at approximately 11:25 p.m., an officer was proactively patrolling Hwy. 101 in Lower Sackville and stopped a westbound Mazda 3 after it was observed travelling 127 km/hr in a 100 km/h zone.  While the driver was retrieving his documents, the officer observed evidence consistent with illegal drug possession.

The driver, a 57-year-old man from Bedford, was arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  A search of the driver and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, unstamped tobacco and cash.

The man is facing a charge of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine). He was also issued a summary offence ticket for speeding.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
