Officers from West Hants RCMP, the Southwest Nova Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SWN SCEU), and other teams safely arrested a man in connection with a firearms-related investigation.
On June 10 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Cottage St. in Windsor. While officers were driving to the call, they learned that people in the area reported possible shots fired from the vehicle. On arrival, investigators found damage to a house that appeared to be from a gunshot and other damage to a car parked at the house. The suspect vehicle had left the area before police arrived.
There were no injuries.
Investigators, including West Hants RCMP general duty officers and the SWN SCEU, identified a man involved.
On June 11, officers learned the man was at a residence on Christopher Hartt Rd. in Ellershouse. In the interest of public and police safety, the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team was also engaged to support an arrest.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers saw that the man left the house as a passenger in a vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop and safely arrested him.
Daimek Walker, 40, from Windsor, is charged with Attempt to Commit Murder while using a Firearm, Discharging Firearm with Intent, multiple other firearms offences, and Uttering Threats. He had a first court appearance on June 12 at Kentville Provincial Court. He remains in custody pending future court appearances.
As part of the ongoing investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the Christopher Hartt Rd. residence and seized evidence supporting the charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
