RCMP arrests woman after theft and assault; appealing for witnesses

Inverness County District RCMP has arrested a Louisdale woman following a theft and assault in Port Hawkesbury and is appealing to anyone who may’ve witnessed the incident.

On June 21, at approximately 4:50 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a theft and an assault at a business in 600 block of Reeves St.

A woman attempted to leave the store with an item that had not been paid for and was stopped by a staff member. During the altercation, the employee received non-life-threatening injuries after being struck with a shopping cart and knocked to the ground. The woman then left the store.

The 31-year-old woman was later arrested along Hwy. 4 and will face theft and assault-related charges. She was released and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court at a later date.
