RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a woman for impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Lewis Lake.

On July 1, at approximately 6:15 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 4600 block of St. Margarets Bay Rd.  Upon arrival, officers observed a Nissan Rogue off the roadway and a woman in the ditch.

Officers assisted the woman out of the ditch and observed signs of impairment. No one else is believed to have been in the Rogue at the time of the crash.

The 54-year-old woman from Middle Sackville was arrested for impaired driving.  She was transported to the Tantallon RCMP Detachment, where she provided two breath samples of 140 mg% and 150 mg%.

She was released and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

Impaired driving remains a leading cause of serious injury and death on Nova Scotia roads.  Motorists are reminded that alcohol or drugs can impair their ability to drive safely.  Plan ahead – use a designated driver, taxi or rideshare – and never get behind the wheel while impaired.  Report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
