RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a woman for impaired driving and on an outstanding warrant following a single-vehicle crash in Ostrea Lake.
On July 6, at approximately 7:20 p.m., RCMP officers, EHS, and fire services responded to a report of a crash on Cross Rd. near Ostrea Lake Rd. Upon arrival, officers found a Kia Forte in a ditch.
Officers learned the vehicle’s two occupants had been driven by a passerby to a nearby residence to drop off a dog before returning to the scene several minutes later. Both women reported they were uninjured. One woman identified herself as the driver and stated she had accidentally driven the vehicle off the road. While speaking with the woman, an officer observed signs of impairment.
The driver, a 35-year-old woman from Ostrea Lake, was arrested for impaired driving and on an outstanding warrant for Failing to Appear in Court. She was transported to the Cole Harbour RCMP Detachment, where she provided two breath samples that each registered 90 mg%.
The woman was released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
