RCMP arrest two men after assault with a weapon in Lower Sackville

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested two men following an assault with a weapon involving several youths in Lower Sackville.  

On August 24, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon in the 700 block of Sackville Dr. Officers learned that a group of youths had been sprayed with a sensory irritant by two men known to them. One man was described as wearing a grey or blue hooded sweatshirt, while the other was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and carrying a pink and black bag.  

At approximately 8:50 p.m., officers located the two men identified by the victims and arrested them.   

An 18-year-old Halifax man was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.  

The second man, Jack Steele Stanley, 18, of Halifax, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Youth Sentence or Disposition (two counts)
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order (three counts).

Stanley was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.  

Stanley is appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 25.
