RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is warning the public after a syringe was found in a Halloween treat bag.
On October 31 at approximately 8:30 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a syringe found by a parent in a child’s bag after trick-or-treating. Officers found that the syringe appeared used and did not have a cap. Officers seized the item for further investigation.
No injuries were reported associated to this syringe. Out of an abundance of caution, officers recommend that no treats collected in this bag be consumed.
Officers believe that the item came from O’Leary Dr. Investigators are following up in the neighbourhood.
Nova Scotia RCMP ask adults to be cautious in checking children’s treats after trick-or-treating and report any suspicious items or activity to police.
