Nunavut RCMP Specialized Investigation Team arrest individual for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material

In June of 2025, Iqaluit RCMP Specialized Investigation Team (SIT), which includes the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, began an investigation into a suspect who was accessing and possessing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
On January 16, 2026, a Canada wide warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.
On January 21, 2026, the suspect was located and arrested in Gatineau, Quebec and was transported back to Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Daniel Legacy, a 38- year-old resident of Iqaluit, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material Sec 163.1(4) C.C.
- Accessing of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material Sec 163.1(4.1) C.C.
Legacy was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 3, 2026, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
