Iqaluit RCMP and Municipal Enforcement Conduct Commercial Vehicle Traffic Initiative

On Friday, May 8th, 2026, the Iqaluit RCMP, in partnership with the City of Iqaluit’s Municipal Enforcement, conducted a Commercial Vehicle check-stop aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing impaired driving in the community.
During the operation:
- Over 150 breath samples were administered to drivers;
- Two impaired drivers were removed from the road;
- Several tickets were issued for various traffic violations;
- Numerous warnings and educational interactions took place, emphasizing compliance with traffic laws and safe driving practices.
The Iqaluit RCMP and Municipal Enforcement will continue to work together to promote road safety and deter impaired driving through ongoing enforcement and public education initiatives.
The public is reminded that impaired driving puts everyone at risk. If you suspect an impaired driver, please report it immediately to the RCMP at 867-979-1111.
