Series of Property Crimes in Iqaluit Lead to Multiple Criminal Charges

William Kolola is facing multiple Criminal Code charges following an investigation by the Iqaluit RCMP into a series of property-related offences that occurred in Iqaluit throughout 2026.
As a result of these investigations, and the public’s assistance in identifying him, William Kolola (30 years old), has been charged with numerous offences, including:
- Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, Section 348(1)(a) Criminal Code
- Break and Enter and Commits an Indictable Offence, Section 348(1)(b) Criminal Code x3
- Theft under $5000, Section 335(b) Criminal Code
- Possession of Break-In Instruments, Section 351(1) Criminal Code
- Assault with a Weapon, Section 267(a) Criminal Code
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Section 88 Criminal Code
The charges relate to six separate incidents that occurred between January and August 2026 in Iqaluit.
The accused appeared before the Nunavut Court of Justice and was remanded into custody pending further court proceedings.
The Iqaluit RCMP acknowledge the assistance provided by community members throughout these investigations. Public cooperation continues to play an important role in helping police identify suspects, gather information, and hold offenders accountable.
As these matters are now before the courts, no further details will be released at this time.
