Two facing drugs charges after Inuvik RCMP execute search warrant

On March 26th, Inuvik RCMP began a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation after receiving information that drugs were being sold at the Nova Apartment building.

On March 27th, a search warrant was granted and executed on the apartment unit in question. Three individuals were arrested. Approximately 12 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, $700 in cash, several cell phones and other paraphernalia were seized.

As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Darius Koffi-Sebio and 19-year-old Aymen Afadish of British Columbia have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Koffi-Sebio faces a further charge of obstructing a peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code.

Both have appeared before a Justice of the Peace and have been remanded into custody. The investigation remains ongoing.
