On September 25, 2025, Prince District RCMP began an investigation into sexual assault and sexual interference. The investigation led to the 48-year-old teacher, Roger Mbahia, being arrested and charged on September 29, 2025, with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. He had been a teacher in PEI for approximately 3 weeks. He was remanded into custody and will appear in Summerside Provincial Court on September 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

This investigation is ongoing.

The RCMP understands that sexual offences have a devastating and lifelong impact on victims and can cause intense feelings of stress, shame and fear. There is no “time limit” on these types of offences, and even if a significant number of years have passed, RCMP investigators will seek justice for any victims who come forward. We are here to help and we encourage anyone affected to report the incident to police. Supports are available, including through RCMP and Victim Services.
