For the second time since December 18, 2025, RCMP have made an impaired driving arrest after a driver collided with a marked police vehicle.

On January 7, 2026, at approximately 1:33 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver in Montague. Police located the vehicle, which initially failed to stop for officers and drove slowly away. The vehicle eventually stopped in a parking lot, where it then backed into the marked police car behind it.

A 59-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving. She will appear in court at a later date to answer to charges related to impaired driving and flight from police. No one was injured, and the vehicle was not significantly damaged.

The previous, unrelated incident occurred on December 18, 2025, in Lake Verde. In that case, a driver crossed the centre line and drove onto the shoulder of the opposite side of the roadway before colliding with a marked police vehicle. Damage occurred to the passenger sides of both vehicles, and both were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. A 48- year-old man was arrested in this incident and will appear in court on this matter.

Reporting suspected impaired drivers helps make roads safer for everyone. If you see an impaired driver, call 911.
