The RCMP Traffic Services Unit was highly active over the past week, conducting proactive patrols from one end of Prince Edward Island to the other in an ongoing effort to enhance road safety for all Islanders.

Throughout the week, officers conducted 12 checkpoints and issued a total of 190 Summary Offence Tickets, along with 20 warnings for various traffic-related violations. Enforcement efforts also led to the apprehension of three impaired drivers, while another motorist received a seven‑day roadside suspension after registering a warning on a roadside screening device.

In addition, five individuals were charged with possessing cannabis while driving, and five suspended drivers were identified and removed from the road. Of the total charges laid, 14 were intersection‑related, highlighting the continued need for caution and compliance at intersections across the province.

The RCMP Traffic Services Unit remains dedicated to reducing high‑risk driving behaviours and ensuring safer highways for everyone on Prince Edward Island.

"Our team is committed to protecting Islanders by keeping our roads safe. Every checkpoint, every patrol, and every enforcement action is part of our ongoing effort to prevent harm and promote responsible driving across Prince Edward Island." Says Cpl. Cpl. Jamie Parsons, of the RCMP Traffic Services Unit.
