Queens District RCMP responded to a collision involving a youth who had been struck by a tractor trailer on Route 2 in Dunstaffnage.
Just before 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Queens District RCMP, Island EMS and North Shore Fire Department were dispatched to a 911 call in Dunstaffnage. A youth, over the age of 12, crossing the road to board a school bus was struck by a tractor trailer. It appears the bus was slowing down to make a regular stop in the area when the incident happened.
The youth was treated at the scene by Island EMS and then transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. Route 2 was closed to all traffic and an RCMP collision analyst attended the scene. It does not appear at this time that drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident. The investigation is on going.
