32-year-old man arrested after attempted robbery in Cornwall

At 9:30 p.m. on June 4, 2026, Queens District responded to a report of a robbery at a business in Cornwall. A Charlottetown man had attempted to rob the store with a weapon. He was not successful and left the store. A Queens district RCMP officer was on patrol just minutes away quickly arrested the man.
Norman Michael Dean will appear in court later today to answer to charges of
- Robbery
- Disguised with intent to commit an offence
- Theft under $5000
- Fail to comply with a probation order
“Robbery is a serious offence; we’re pleased this situation ended peacefully and the individual is now in custody. We remind the public that if they find themselves in a similar situation, their safety is the priority—do not resist, observe what you can, and report information to police as soon as it is safe to do so. Vigilance and timely reporting help us keep our communities safe” said Cpl Gavin Moore the Media Relations Officer for the PEI RCMP.
