Fatal collision closes Trans-Canada Highway

A collision involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle has claimed the life of a 20-year-old Queens County man. 

At 5:00 a.m. on June 10, 2026, Queens District RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near the intersection of the TCH and the 48 Road (Route5). Island EMS and Cross Roads Fire Department also responded, as well as an RCMP collision reconstructionist. The Provincial Department of Highways set up detours in the area to divert all traffic. 

At this time, it does not appear drugs or alcohol are a factor in this incident. The investigation is ongoing. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time.
