An investigation by Prince District RCMP has led to the seizure of several weapons parts and two functioning firearms.

Prince District RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, and the Joint Forces Operations team executed a search warrant at a residence in Elmsdale. During the search police found several partially intact firearms. A search of an outdoor shed also revealed an improvised trap device designed to cause serious bodily harm.

The RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team was tasked to inspect two weapons found during the search and determined them to be a 22-calibre long gun, and a 12-gauge shotgun that had its barrel sawed off and serial number tampered with, making it a prohibited weapon.

Clint David Hardy was arrested and is charged as follows:

  • Two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Tampering with the serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of a trap likely to cause bodily harm

“PEI RCMP remain committed to proactively identifying and taking enforcement action against individuals who unlawfully possess firearms. The safety of our communities continues to be our top priority,” said Cst. Kevin MacKay, Acting Media Relations Officer with PEI RCMP

Hardy will appear in Summerside court on Thursday, June 18, 2026. This investigation is ongoing.
