Kings District RCMP Investigating Report of Suspicious Interaction with Children in Montague Area

Kings District RCMP have received a report of a man offering candy to elementary school-aged children in the Montague area.

Police immediately conducted an investigation and have identified the individual involved. At this time, no criminal offence has been identified; however, the matter remains under investigation.

Kings District RCMP are asking anyone who may have information about this incident, or any other similar incident, to contact police.

Police are also encouraging parents and guardians to take this opportunity to discuss personal safety with their children. Important stranger safety tips include:

  • Never accept gifts, candy, money, or other items from strangers.
  • Never get into a vehicle with a stranger, even if they claim to have a puppy, know your family, or say that a family member needs help.
  • Move away from situations that make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
  • Seek assistance from a trusted adult, teacher, parent, guardian, police officer, or other safe adult if you are concerned or feel threatened.
  • Trust your instincts and leave any situation that does not feel right.
