Today is the kick-off for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival and PEI RCMP are issuing a reminder to all motorists:
- Never drive impaired – have a great time, but have a plan
- Don’t drive distracted – driving is not the time to check your cell phone
- Drive aware and obey speed limits – safety on Island roads starts with you
In recent days there have been a number of incidents on our roads serving as a strong reminder for everyone to drive safe. Even the day before CBMF kicked off PEI RCMP officers are reporting:
- 3 drivers stopped who were suspected of being impaired by cannabis
- 1 driver charged with flight from police and dangerous driving
- 52 tickets issued under the PEI Highway Traffic Act
Along with regular patrols across PEI, RCMP conducted several check stops in a number of locations. And we want to thank those who called 911 to report suspected impaired drivers. It is an emergency if you see a suspected impaired driver – so calling 911 is the right thing to do.
It’s an exciting time to be on PEI with summer and CBMF happening. But road safety starts with every driver each time they get behind the wheel. PEI RCMP hope everyone has a magical summer, making great memories…Drive Safe PEI!
