Sudden death in Georgetown being investigated

A 34-year-old Kings County man died suddenly in public in Georgetown; PEI RCMP and the Provincial Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause of death.
On Wednesday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Kings District RCMP responded to a 911 call in Georgetown regarding a man acting erratically who subsequently lost consciousness.
RCMP, Island EMS and other Georgetown Fire members arrived on scene and performed CPR on the man in an effort to resuscitate him. The efforts of emergency services personnel were unsuccessful, and the man’s death was pronounced at the scene.
PEI RCMP Major Crime Unit, the Forensic Identification Section, RCMP Police Dog Services were also called to assist with the investigation which remains ongoing. There is no further public safety concern.
