Two separate collisions involving motorcycles over the weekend provide a good reminder for all motorists to drive aware

PEI RCMP responded to two separate collisions involving cars and motorcycles over the weekend providing a good reminder for all drivers to be aware and drive with care. 

Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday August 9, 2026, Souris RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding a collision between a car and motorcycle on MacPhee Ave. In this instance, it was a minor incident with no injuries to any parties and also minor damage to the vehicles. 

Just after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, Montague RCMP responded to a 911 call on Queens Rd. near MacIntyre Avenue. Island EMS and Montague Fire also responded to the call. The driver of the motorcycle was sent to hospital with serious injuries; the driver of the car was also sent to hospital with minor injuries. 

“Summer is busy on Island roads with many different types of vehicles from larger RV’s to motorcycles of all sizes. PEI RCMP appreciate there is much to see and take in as drivers enjoy the sights of PEI, but driving aware and focussing on what’s around you is always a priority,” said Cpl. Ellen Peters, Acting Media Relations Officer with PEI RCMP.
