PEI RCMP continue to investigate the shooting incident that occurred in Urbainville, PEI.
Around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, RCMP responded to a report of shots fired on Route 125, the Hackmatack Rd, a very sparsely populated rural dirt road in Urbanville. A vehicle involved in the incident had crashed into a ditch. The driver, a 35-year-old man suffered gun shot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene and a 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. She later died of her injuries. The families have asked for privacy relating to this matter. Both deaths are being investigated as homicides.
“These types of incidents are uncommon in our province, and we take this investigation very seriously. People are curious and want to know more about this incident. I thank the public for their patience as we cannot share all the details of an investigation like this as it may compromise the investigation. Ultimately our goal is to hold those who commit crimes like this accountable. We take Islanders safety very seriously and our thoughts are with the victim’s family,” said Cpl Gavin Moore PEI RCMP Media Relations Officer.
