On August 19, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Prince District RCMP responded to a report of a head-on collision involving a commercial truck and a pickup truck on Route 1 in Crapaud, near the Route 13 intersection.

In one truck a 63‑year‑old Ontario man, was pronounced deceased at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. The lone occupant of the other truck suffered minor injuries. Initial indications appear to show the commercial truck crossed the center line into the path of the pickup truck. Crapaud Fire Department and Island EMS attended the scene. The road was closed for several hours as a collision reconstructionist examined the scene. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision and this investigation is ongoing

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time.
