Kings District RCMP is investigating a report that two kittens were thrown from a moving vehicle, resulting in the death of one of the animals.
On September 20, 2026, at approximately 11 a.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a report of two kittens being thrown from a moving SUV on Route 24 in Lyndale.
Police learned that witnesses observed the kittens being thrown from a newer-model red SUV with a grey roof rack. One of the kittens was struck by a vehicle and died. The second kitten was safely recovered and has since been adopted.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking information from the public that may help identify the vehicle and those responsible.
"This is a disturbing and shocking incident. Animals are vulnerable and depend on people for their care and protection. Deliberately harming animals in this manner is unacceptable" says Cpl. Gavin Moore, Media Relations Officer for PEI RCMP. "As the investigation continues, police will be examining all applicable offences.”
If you have animals that you would like to relinquish care of please contact the PEI Humaine Society.
