On October 13, 2026, a search of a residence in the Norboro area resulted in a large seizure of fentanyl along with cash, phones and drug paraphernalia.
The Provincial Joint Enforcement Unit (JET) along with the Prince District Joint Forces Operations (JFO) conducted a detailed investigation that provided foundations to execute a search warrant at the residence. There police located approximately 150 grams of fentanyl packaged in various forms, more than $3,000 in cash, a number of cell phones and drug paraphernalia. Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid—up to dozens of times stronger than heroin or morphine—making even small quantities far more dangerous and a significant driver of overdose deaths compared to other illicit drugs. It is commonly sold in 0.1-gram quantities, making this a significant seizure.
John Douglas Langley, 68, of Norboro was arrested on October 13, 2026, as part of a traffic stop by Summerside Police in connection to this case, and has been charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking fentanyl, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Langley was remanded into custody for court appearance on October 15, 2026. This investigation remains ongoing.

Quotes
Fentanyl continues to be one of the most dangerous illicit drugs encountered by police in Canada. A seizure of 150 grams removes a significant amount of this dangerous drug from circulation and helps prevent potential harm in our communities. This is the largest seizure to date for the JET and JFO team and the members who worked to achieve this arrest put a great deal of time and effort into this case. This really shows the positive results that can be achieved when different police agencies work together to get drugs off Island streets.
