On October 22, 2026, at approximately 2:50 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision on Route 207 in Belfast that claimed the life of an 87-year-old Queens County man.
Members of Kings District RCMP, the Belfast Fire Department, and Island EMS attended the scene of a collision involving a passenger car and a garbage truck. Initial indications appear to show that the car failed to brake and collided with the rear of garbage truck that was in the same lane.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, an 87-year-old man from Queens County, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two men working in the garbage truck were not injured.
An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended and Route 207 was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing as Kings District RCMP continue to work in consultation with the Provincial Coroner's Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
