Swift Current Rural RCMP: more than 80 charges laid in break-and-enter investigation

As a result of continued investigation, Swift Current Rural RCMP have charged 28-year-old Donny Gurney in relation to several rural property break and enters. The break-ins occurred between June 1 and June 26, 2025 in the Swift Current Rural detachment area.

On June 26, 20-year-old Serenity Stanley was also arrested in relation to the break-and-enter investigation.  

Donny Gurney from Nekaneet First Nation and Serenity Stanley from Swift Current are each charged with:

  • thirteen counts, break and enter with intent, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • five counts, theft of motor vehicle, Section 333.1, Criminal Code;
  • three counts, theft under $5000, Section 334, Criminal Code;
  • eight counts, theft over $5000, Section 334, Criminal Code;
  • five counts, break and enter, Section 348(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • seven counts, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.

Donny Gurney and Serenity Stanley appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on July 9, 2025.

Saskatchewan RCMP continue to investigate.

Swift Current Rural RCMP arrested Donny Gurney on June 26, 2025 in Swift Current, SK. He is scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on June 27.

The stolen F350 truck was also recovered by police.

2025-06-20

On June 19, 2025 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Swift Current Rural RCMP received a report of a vehicle theft in the RM of Swift Current.

Investigation determined an unknown individual or individuals approached a rural property, broke into two buildings, and stole a truck. The truck is described as a brown 2005 F350 with Saskatchewan license plate 909 EFZ. It has a silver toolbox and a fifth wheel hitch in the box. It also has a farm company name in white lettering on the driver and passenger side windows. A photo of the truck is attached.

Investigators believe the break-in occurred early on June 19.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., Swift Current City RCMP located the suspect vehicle on Sidney Street East in Swift Current. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The truck did not stop; it fled from police. Officers followed in the direction of the vehicle.

As a result of continued investigation, 28-year-old Donny Gurney from Nekaneet First Nation is charged with:

  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 355(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.

A warrant has been issued for Donny Gurney’s arrest. Saskatchewan RCMP continue work to locate and arrest Donny Gurney and ask members of the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.

Donny Gurney is described as:

  • Height: 6 ft 0 in
  • Weight: 180 lbs
  • Eye colour: brown
  • Hair colour and style: black
  • Other descriptors: multiple tattoos, including the word ‘loyalty’ tattooed on his right wrist, letters tattooed on his fingers, and a chain link fence tattooed on his left hand.
