Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes: Male charged with second degree murder

On October 7, 2025 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report of a deceased male outside a residence on Victoria Avenue in Yorkton, SK.

Officers responded immediately and secured the scene for further investigation. As the death was considered suspicious, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation.

The deceased male has been identified as 51-year-old Curtis Gilman Bourassa from Winnipeg, Manitoba. His family has been notified.

As a result of continued investigation, an adult male was arrested on October 11, 2025. 51-year-old Henry Wayne Chartrand from Yorkton, SK is charged with second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.

Henry Chartrand appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on October 14, 2025.

 

Background:

On October 7, 2025 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report of a deceased male outside a residence on Victoria Avenue in Yorkton, SK.

Officers immediately responded and secured the scene for further investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP are working to identify the male. We are not providing additional details about him at this time.

The male’s death is considered suspicious. As a result, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has taken carriage of the investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is asking anyone who lives in the 100th block area of Victoria Avenue in Yorkton to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras between noon on October 5 and the afternoon on October 7. If your device captured images or videos of suspicious activity, please report it to police immediately by calling 310-RCMP. Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence in the 100th block area of Victoria Avenue in Yorkton for an undetermined amount of time.
