A kilogram of methamphetamine, a firearm, and a machete seized by Pelican Narrows RCMP during an aggravated assault investigation

A male and female have been charged by Pelican Narrows RCMP after methamphetamine, a firearm, and a machete were seized at a residence as part of an aggravated assault investigation.

On December 23, 2025, Pelican Narrows RCMP received a report of a serious assault at a residence on Ballantyne Street in Pelican Narrows, SK.

Officers responded immediately. Investigation determined a male locked a female in a room at the residence. The male later entered the room with a firearm. An interaction occurred between the male and female, and the female was injured. The firearm was not discharged. The female was taken to a medical clinic with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. Pelican Narrows RCMP arrested the male at the residence.

As part of the assault investigation, on December 24, Pelican Narrows RCMP executed a search warrant at the residence. While at the residence, officers located and seized approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine, ammunition, a sawed-off firearm, additional firearm parts, a machete, and a sum of cash. Two females and a male were arrested at the residence.

As a result of continue investigation, 26-year-old Tanner Ballantyne from Prince Albert, SK is charged with:

  • one count, aggravated assault, Section 268(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 355(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, 85(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

45-year-old Sylvia Ballantyne from Pelican Narrows, SK is charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 355(a), Criminal Code.

The other male and female were later released without charge.

Tanner Ballantyne and Sylvia Ballantyne appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on December 30, 2025.
