Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) is investigating a suspicious death on Canoe Lake Cree First Nation.
On March 16, 2026, Beauval RCMP received a report that a female was receiving treatment in the hospital for serious injuries. The female died of her injuries on March 17. She has been identified as a 51-year-old female from Canoe Lake Cree First Nation. Her family has been notified.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU took carriage of the investigation and is being assisted by North Battleford Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the North Battleford Serious Crimes Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Initial investigation has determined the female’s death is suspicious in nature. HIU continues to investigate. As this is an active and ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide further details at this time.

Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence in Canoe Lake Cree First Nation for an undetermined amount of time.
