Punnichy RCMP: male charged with kidnapping with a firearm

Punnichy RCMP arrested an adult male in relation to a kidnapping and assault investigation that began in Kelliher, SK.

On March 19, 2026 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Punnichy RCMP received a report of a kidnapping with a firearm in Kelliher, SK.

Investigation determined a male was sitting in a parked vehicle outside a business in Kelliher. A second male approached the vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim, threatened him, and entered the vehicle. The firearm was not discharged. The suspect ordered the victim to drive. The victim complied, later parking near a residence on George Gordon First Nation.

While parked, a male and female approached the vehicle to assist the victim. An altercation occurred between the assisting individuals and the suspect, during which the suspect broke one of the vehicle’s windows and deployed bear mace towards the male and female. 

Punnichy RCMP responded and arrested the male at the scene on George Gordon First Nation. All three victims – the two males and the female – were assessed by EMS at the scene for injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. The suspect was taken to hospital for further assessment of injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

During the arrest and a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a sawed-off firearm, ammunition, two cans of bear mace, a machete, a baton, approximately 36 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 24 grams of fentanyl, and approximately 6 grams of psilocybin.

As a result of continued investigation, 31-year-old Adrian Frank from Kelliher is charged with:

• one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, kidnapping with a firearm, Section 279(1.1), Criminal Code;
• one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
• two counts, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
• three counts, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(2), Criminal Code;
• four counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code;
• four counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code;
• one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
• three counts, carrying a concealed weapon, Section 90, Criminal Code; and
• one count, mischief equal to or less than $5000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code.

Adrian Frank appeared in court in Punnichy on March 24, 2026. We are working to obtain an information number.
