Nipawin RCMP: methamphetamine, fentanyl and loaded handgun found in vehicle involved in rollover

On March 24, 2026, Nipawin RCMP received a report of a vehicle rollover near Codette, SK.

Officers immediately responded. 

Investigation determined an adult male and adult female were in the vehicle when it rolled. The male left the scene of the rollover.

The female, who did not report injuries to police, was at the scene when police arrived.

Officers located a sawed-off firearm, a loaded handgun, ammunition, approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 15 grams of fentanyl and approximately 149 unknown pharmaceutical-style pills in the vehicle.

The female was arrested.

As a result of continued investigation, 45-year-old Genevieve McKay is charged with:

- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

- one count, possession (fentanyl), Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;

- two counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;

- one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, Section 91(2), Criminal Code;

- two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;

- three counts, possession of a firearm/ammunition in a motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code; 

- one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition, Section 95(1), Criminal Code; 

- one count, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, Section 96(1), Criminal Code; and

- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code.

She is scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on April 2, 2026 (Information #90569239).

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate, including locating the male that left the scene of the rollover.
