Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit continue to investigate the death of 65-year-old Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko from North Battleford.

As a result of continued investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit have collected footage of Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko at the Walmart on Carlton Trail in North Battleford. Melissa was seen at the Walmart on the morning of April 5, 2026. At that time, Melissa was wearing a black jacket, blue and green plaid patterned pants, black boots, and glasses. 

Investigators are releasing the video of Melissa so people can see what she looks like and what she was wearing the last time she was seen. It is their hope that tips from the public may help develop a clearer timeline of events leading up to her death, which is considered a homicide. Investigators are asking anyone who saw or had contact with Melissa in early April to please contact police. They are also asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the 20^th Street West area of Battleford on Easter weekend to please report what you saw. Any information – no matter how small it may seem – can be vital to advancing an investigation. What you know could be the missing piece investigators need to bring answers and closure to Melissa’s family.

On April 8, 2026 at approximately 2:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a deceased female at a residence on 20th Street West in Battleford, SK.

Officers immediately responded and secured the scene for further investigation.

The female has been identified as 65-year-old Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko from North Battleford. Her family has been notified.

The female’s death is considered suspicious. As a result, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. 

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit is asking anyone who lives in the 20^th Street West area of Battleford to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras between Wednesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 8. If your device captured images or videos of suspicious activity, please report it to police immediately. Information can be reported to your local police service by calling 310-RCMP. Investigators advise there will be an increased police presence on 20^th Street West in Battleford for an undetermined amount of time.
