UPDATE: RCMP response in Fort Qu’Appelle area

Broadview RCMP have charged an adult male in relation to this incident. 

Through coordinated efforts, Broadview RCMP worked alongside Saskatchewan RCMP Combined Traffic Services, White Butte RCMP and Yorkton RCMP Police Dog Services, Indian Head RCMP, and Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP throughout the investigation, resulting in an arrest.

44-year-old James Delorme from Grenfell has been charged with:

• two counts, fail to comply, Section 145(4)(b), Criminal Code;
• one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
• one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
• one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, operation while prohibited, Section 320.18, Criminal Code; and
• one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code.

He appeared in Broadview Provincial Court on April 23, 2026 (Information #90594885).

The female passenger has since been released. 

Broadview RCMP continue to investigate. 

Background

The RCMP is confirming reports of multiple RCMP vehicles in the Fort Qu’Appelle area this afternoon. This is in relation to a report of a person possibly forcibly confined in a vehicle. This incident has since concluded, and all individuals are safe following an immediate and collaborative RCMP officer response.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. today, Broadview RCMP received a report of a person possibly forcibly confined in a blue SUV that left a business in the Grenfell area. The vehicle was located in the Indian Head and then Fort Qu’Appelle detachment areas driving at a high rate of speed. RCMP followed it. The SUV stopped north of Fort Qu’Appelle and the two occupants - one adult male and one adult female - were arrested by RCMP without further incident. No injuries were reported. 

Preliminary investigation has determined this incident is not random.
