Charges laid in significant 2026 copper wire theft following RCMP investigation

Two firearms, methamphetamine, and copper wire were seized at a residence in Wilkie, SK following a significant RCMP investigation.
On April 25, 2026, officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT), and the Wilkie RCMP conducted an ongoing investigation in Wilkie in relation to drug trafficking.
As part of the investigation, officers obtained a warrant and searched a residence in Wilkie. During the execution of the search warrant, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Traffic Services, officers located methamphetamine, one firearm and one prohibited firearm, as well as a large amount of copper wire. An adult male and two adult females were arrested at the scene. The females were released without charge.
As a result of this investigation, 41-year-old Marlon Marchewka from Wilkie is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), CDSA;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a); Criminal Code;
- two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition, Section 95(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
As a result of this investigation, Wilkie RCMP were able to lay charges in relation to a separate copper wire theft from a grain elevator in April 2026 that resulted in significant damages. Marlon Marchewka is also charged with:
- one count, break and enter, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, mischief over $5,000, Section 430(3), Criminal Code; and
- one count, theft over $5,000, Section 334, Criminal Code.
Marlon Marchewka appeared in Battleford Provincial Court on April 27, 2026.
