⯈ On Apr. 2, Battlefords RCMP responded to a report that two individuals armed with a shotgun had stolen a truck from a passerby who had offered them a ride. With the assistance of Battlefords RCMP Police Dog Services, the two suspects were apprehended within 30 minutes. ⯈ Corporal Brent Salzl of the Forensic Identification Services unit in North Battleford provided an overview of how crime scenes are examined and evidence is analyzed. His work spans a wide range of investigations, from motor vehicle thefts to complex and serious crimes, including homicides. In addition to supporting Battlefords RCMP, the unit also provides forensic services to all RCMP detachments across northwest Saskatchewan. See full video here.
⯈ On Apr. 10, a Battlefords RCMP officer was conducting proactive patrols in North Battleford when they observed a break and enter in progress at a local business. The officer quickly intervened, leading to the suspect’s arrest. The individual is now facing seven charges, including break and enter, uttering threats, obstructing justice by providing a false name, and more. This incident highlights the importance of proactive policing in preventing and responding to crime in real time.

⯈ On Apr. 9, Corporal Steve Bell with Community Policing and Victim Services attended an event hosted by North West Regional College. During his visit, he engaged with members of the public to promote career opportunities within the RCMP, including positions in the Operational Communications Centre (OCC) and on the front line as police officers.
⯈ On Apr. 21, Corporal Brewer attended a community supper and Gang Awareness presentation in partnership with Saulteaux Prevention. A guest speaker shared his own personal experience with gang involvement and his journey out of gang life. Corporal Brewer shared the warning signs and emerging trends about gangs.
