As a result of continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit, Darian Montgrand is facing additional charges following a homicide in Turnor Lake.
On May 9, 2026, 25-year-old Darian Montgrand from Turnor Lake was charged with three counts, possession of firearm and ammunition contrary to conditions, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code; and one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code.
Darian Montgrand made his first appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 11, 2026 (Information #90538208, #90650951).
Background
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a report of an injured female at a residence in Turnor Lake.
Officers from Buffalo Narrows and La Loche RCMP detachments responded immediately and located an injured female at the residence. They arrested a male outside the residence.
EMS attended and declared the female deceased. She has been identified as 21-year-old Shalayah Montgrand from Turnor Lake. Her family has been notified and victim services have been made available to them.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU took carriage of the investigation. As a result of their investigation, on May 8, 2026, 25-year-old Darian Montgrand from Turnor Lake is charged with one count, manslaughter, Section 236(a) of the Criminal Code.
Darian Montgrand is scheduled to appear by CCTV in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 11, 2026, at 10 a.m.
