UPDATE 2: Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit investigating suspicious death in Pelican Narrows

Edmonton Police Service arrested Brett McCallum on May 23 in the Edmonton area. He will be transported back to Saskatchewan for his first court appearance. The court appearance details are still being determined and will be shared when available.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) are asking the public to report sightings and information on the whereabouts of 31-year-old Brett McCallum. He also goes by the name ‘Nigel McCallum.’  

Brett McCallum is wanted on warrant for one count, second-degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal. This charge was laid on May 22, 2026, following the homicide of 26-year-old Jaden Custer in Pelican Narrows, SK.

Brett McCallum is described as: 

• Height: approximately 6 ft   
• Weight: approximately 200 lbs 
• Eye colour: brown
• Hair colour: black
• Other descriptors: scars on both forearms, crown tattoo on right hand, rosary and cross tattoo on left forearm, mole above right eyebrow

Brett McCallum is known to travel to the Prince Albert area, but his current whereabouts are unknown. 

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit continue to investigate.

On May 21, 2026, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP received a report of an injured male at a residence in Pelican Narrows, SK. 

Officers responded immediately and located the male. EMS arrived and declared the man deceased at the scene.

The death was determined to be suspicious in nature. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. 

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Jaden Custer from Pelican Narrows. His family has been notified, and victim services have been made available to them.
