Carlyle RCMP charge a male with forcible confinement on White Bear First Nation

Carlyle RCMP charged an adult male with forcible confinement after a victim was held at a residence on White Bear First Nation.

On May 24, 2026 at approximately 5:50 p.m., Carlyle RCMP received a report of a male who had been forcibly confined, threatened with a firearm, and repeatedly assaulted at a residence on White Bear First Nation. He was able to escape and was treated at the hospital for injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

As a result of investigation, Carlyle RCMP arrested the suspect at a residence on White Bear First Nation around 7 p.m. on May 24. During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located and seized an axe and a handgun. 

Resulting from further investigation, 28-year-old Braiden Hotomani from Regina, SK is charged with:

  • one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code; 
  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without a license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
  • five counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault causing bodily harm, Section 267(b), Criminal Code;
  • one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, breaking, entering, and committing, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code; and 
  • one count, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code.

Braiden Hotomani was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Regina Police Service for attempted murder.

Braiden Hotomani is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on May 28, 2026.
