Southey RCMP: man arrested, guns seized after firearm discharge incident

On May 24, 2026, at around 8:50 p.m., Southey RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge in Southey.

Investigation determined a male exited a residence on Byron Street and pointed a firearm at two children. He then discharged the firearm at the ground. The children were not physically injured and were able to flee.

Officers immediately responded and arrested a male at the residence. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. They later located and seized a semi-automatic handgun, a sawed-off firearm, ammunition, a small amount of cocaine and crack, and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of continued investigation, 41-year-old Joshua Bundus from Southey is charged with:

- two counts, assault with weapon, Section 267, Criminal Code;

- two counts, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95(b), Criminal Code;

- one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;

- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code;

- two counts, discharge a firearm while being reckless, Section 244.2(1), Criminal Code; and

- two counts, careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code.

Joshua Bundus has been remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance in Regina Provincial Court on May 29, 2026.

The investigation continues.
