Broadview RCMP: male charged with forcible confinement and assault

On May 27, 2026 at approximately 4:00 a.m., Broadview RCMP received a report that a woman was being confined by an armed male at a residence on Kahkewistahaw First Nation.

Broadview RCMP immediately responded and arrested an adult male at the residential property.

Investigation determined a male suspect assaulted and pointed a firearm at a female, refusing to let her leave the residence. A second male at the residential property was also threatened by the armed suspect, and his vehicle was damaged. It was reported to police that the firearm was never discharged. Neither victim reported physical injuries to police. 

During a search of the residence, officers located and seized a handgun.

As a result of continued investigation, 44-year-old Anthony Kinistino from Kahkewistahaw First Nation is charged with:

  • one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
  • one count, forcible confinement, Section 279(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, mischief over $5000 – damage to motor vehicle, Section 430(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; and 
  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code.

Anthony Kinistino appeared in Regina Provincial Court on May 27, 2026.

Broadview RCMP continue to investigate.
