Battlefords RCMP: three charged after attempted break-in at church

Battlefords RCMP have charged three adults in relation to an attempted break-in at a church in North Battleford.

On July 14, 2026 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a potential break and enter at a church on Winder Crescent in North Battleford. Officers attended and arrested five suspects. The suspects did not gain entry to the church and no damaged was noted to the building. During a search of the suspects, officers seized an imitation firearm and weapons from an adult male and weapons and bear spray from an adult female. 

As a result of investigation, 26-year-old Bridget Naytowhow from Saskatoon has been charged with one count, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), and one count, fail to comply with undertaking condition, Section 145(4)(a), Criminal Code. 

29-year-old Darren Stanley from Wilkie has been charged with one count, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code. 

26-year-old Dakota Desjarlais from Saskatoon has been charged with one count, possession of break-in instruments, Section 351(1), Criminal Code.

They are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on September 28, 2026.

The other two arrested individuals were released without charge.

"Thanks to the quick response and proactive police work of our officers and assistance from the public, we were able to intervene before a break and enter occurred. Their vigilance not only prevented further property crime, but also allowed us to hold those responsible accountable,” says S/Sgt. Bryce Pender with Battlefords RCMP. “We remain committed to working closely with our community partners to enhance public safety and help prevent crime.”
