Three teenagers have been charged following a firearm discharge in Île-à-la-Crosse, SK.

On July 16, 2026 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge in a treed area near Amisk Crescent in Île-à-la-Crosse. It was reported to police that three teenaged males were seen exiting the treed area shortly after the incident. 

Officers responded and located the three teenaged males on Lajeunesse Avenue in Île-à-la-Crosse. As a result of investigation, the three teens were arrested.

During the arrest, Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP located and seized two sawed-off firearms and bear spray that the teens had in their possession.

The three teenaged males, who are all from Île-à-la-Crosse, are each charged with:

• two counts, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license/registration, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
• three counts, possession of a concealed weapon, Section 90(2), Criminal Code;
• two counts, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(3), Criminal Code; and
• three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code.

Two of the teens were additionally charged with one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code.

The third teen was additionally charged with five counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code and one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code.

We are unable to identify the teenaged males as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on July 20, 2026.
